Yelptube Extension: Enhancing Yelp with YouTube Videos
The Yelptube extension is a free Chrome add-on developed by ericserafim. This extension aims to enhance the user experience on the popular review site Yelp by embedding three YouTube videos related to the selected restaurant.
When a user visits the Yelp website and selects a restaurant to view its details, the Yelptube extension automatically runs in the background. It performs a search on YouTube using the name of the selected establishment as the search query. The extension utilizes three versions of the YouTube API to prioritize the most relevant videos for the search query. If no relevant videos are found, the extension does not display anything.
Once the list of videos is retrieved, the Yelptube extension presents them in the top right corner of the page, adjacent to the photo gallery. To remove the videos from the page, users can simply click the "X" button. The videos will only reappear if the user navigates to a new detail page or if the page is reloaded.
With the Yelptube extension, Yelp users can now easily access and watch YouTube videos related to the restaurant they are interested in, enhancing their overall browsing experience.
